The old golf club was painted white and they wanted to paint it dark because they were forever getting bombs whizzing around, none ever actually hit them, but they were always getting bombs round because the Germans thought they had seen an airport!

There was two cottages opposite there and some people called Richardson lived in one, they had two sons and one particular night they heard the siren and went out down to the shelter at the bottom of the garden and one night while they were in there, a bomb came though the roof into the bed where the two lads would have been. That was an unexploded bomb.
