No. 2 Derby Street is believed to be a unique example of a purpose built Georgian solicitor's office. The firm which is now Tickle, Hall, and Cross, Solicitors, began as Cross and Son. The office was run by Mr. W. A. Cross, who was the last steward of the Prescot Leet Court in the 1930's. The Prescot Leet Court was a form of self government unique to the town even up to modern times. Prescotians enjoyed rights denied to those outside the town.
