Pigeon House and Whitefield House

Ref. No.: WFN11
Date of Photo: 1998.

The Pigeon House, c.1910. This is situated in the corner of Ingoe Lane and Whitefield Drive. It was a dovecot and, at least in the early years of this century, had a pigsty beneath it, to give the pigeons a bit of company. Whitefield House, behind the Pigeon House, was built in 1703 with some additions in 1770. By this century it had been divided into two dwellings. The north portion (right) ran the surrounding farm, and was known as Pigeon House Farm, after the dovecot.
