'Walking days' were very popular during the Edwardian period. In this photograph walkers from the British Insulated Wire Co., Prescot, reach the premises of William Beesley, plumber and painter at the top of Aspinall Street on 20th June 1903. The premises were formerly occupied by D.F. Roberts, cabinet maker, house furnisher and plumber. The notice in the shop window reads "All stock to be cleared at greatly reduced prices". Mr. Beesley and his two sons can be seen leaning out of the first floor window watching the parade.
